Violens are thrilled to announce summer tour dates with indie rock faves Grizzly Bear, and 2008 break out band MGMT. Following the release of singer/producer Jorge Elbrecht's remix of their single "Time to Pretend", MGMT asked Violens to join them on dates between a busy schedule of summer festivals. The band will then join Grizzly Bear as sole support on their shows between dates with Radiohead. Additional dates with each package will be announced shortly.

Violens recently released their critically acclaimed new single "Trance-Like Turn" on The Green Owl Records Comp: A Benefit for the Energy Action Coalition. Their contribution is featured among tracks by other notable artists such as Feist, Muse, Deerhoof, Bloc Party, A Place To Bury Strangers, and many more. 100% of profits from the album sales will be donated to the EAC, to support their efforts to raise environmental awareness in our community. http://greenowlrecords.com/comp.php

The band was recently named one of 8 bands to watch in 2008 by The L Magazine. Follow the link below to their feature, alongside Brooklyn's High Places: http://thelmagazine.com/6/11/feature/feature4.cfm?ctype=1

Violens (pronounced "vy-lenz") are a New York-via-Miami four-piece formed in the fall of 2007, featuring members Iddo Arad (synths/vocals), Ben Brantley (bass), Jorge Elbrecht (lead vocals/guitar) and Kris King (drums). Their music imagines a place where The Zombies & The Byrds meet Wire & The Violent Femmes, and Crass meets Angelo Badalamenti & Prefab Sprout. Violens songs conjure descriptions of nightmares, the passing of time, speculations on spiritual messages, and accounts of psychedelic hallucinations. Even their most frenetic guitar work and aggressive rhythms are draped in a gauze of reverberant, harmonized vocals and synths which create a sense of creepy, artificial comfort. A fitting characterization, lyrically and musically, for a group whose name sounds like a melding of the words "violence" and "violins".

Shy Child Debut “Astronaut” Video On Pitchfork TV

Debut Single “Drop The Phone” Enters Top 10 On Modern Rock Specialty & Top 50 CMJ Radio! Noise Won’t Stop Now Out May 20th On Kill Rock Stars
Features SpankRock & Produced By Chris Zane (White Rabbits/Asobi Sesku/Les Savy Fav)!

The NME declares, “Shy Child are to Kraftwerk what The White Stripes are to Led Zeppelin!” And here is their story... Nate Smith (Drums) and Pete Cafarella (Vox/Keytar) met at Wesleyan University in the mid-90’s where Nate had invited Pete to join his band. Although Pete was kicked out a few days later the two formed a fast friendship that would eventually lead to the formation of Shy Child once they both had relocated to NYC. Initially the band was pursued when time permitted between their various projects. They recorded their 2004 album, “One With the Sun” with small expectations and an even smaller budget, recording it in Pete’s apartment to a computer with Chris Zane for the price of pizza and beer. It would prove to be just enough…

The band caught the attention of producer Paul Epworth (Kate Nash/Bloc Party/The Rapture) and soon they were in the studio working on new material along with the band’s previous producer, Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav/White Rabbits/Asobi Seksu). The resulting album, “Noise Won’t Stop” bristles with frantic energy and blistering tones leading with the first track “Drop The Phone” and featuring the U.S. debut sonic single, “Astronaut”. And producer/artist extraordinaire SpankRock, lends a his rapping/vocals to the slickest album track “Kick Drum.”

After a US tour with Hot Chip in November of 2006, the band took the plunge and lived as ex-pats in London for the next 8 months. The time abroad began with a full UK tour in support of their old pals Klaxons culminating in 2 sold out dates at Shepard’s Bush Empire in London. And that was just the beginning; over the course of the summer they traversed the Emerald Isle four times and played numerous shows and festivals throughout Europe. The highlights included sets at 02 Wireless, Glastonbury, The Isle of Wight, and an opening slot at Wembley Stadium with Muse. When all was finished the dynamic duo had logged over 100 dates.

In June of 2007 in the UK they appeared on the venerable program, Later With Jools Holland. On the bill with them that night were Sir Paul McCartney and Bjork, which made for some mighty company indeed. Impressed with their unique sound fashion maven Stella McCartney requested the band to be the performers for her segment in the Fashion Rocks TV special that was broadcasted throughout Europe to over 60 million viewers. And a few months later in January 08, while performing as part of Australia’s legendary Big Day Out Festival, they were asked by Bjork to open for her at the Opera House in Sydney.

Now “Noise Won’t Stop” has found it’s home on the esteemed Kill Rock Stars Label and Shy Child are spending 2008 touring the U.S. Be on the look out for this transcendent two-some.

Sybris Release Debut Video For “Oh, Man!” (Don’t Miss This Caper Chase Comedy)

Sophomore LP Out June 3rd On Absolutely Kosher Records / Out Now On iTunes !

Chicago’s Sybris is a quartet of powerful grace, the sound of a battalion of Valkyries astride winged horses bound for Valhalla. The sweep of giant white wings in the wind, the creak of the saddle beneath the weight of warrior goddesses in full regalia, the dreamy, gauzy, glittery haze of the ghosts of the warrior dead behind them floating towards eternal glory. I mean, um, it’s not metal. Rock has got to reclaim all the cool Viking shit from metal. But Chicago winters can be as extreme as those in Nordic lands and Sybris carries all of that on their latest album, Into the Trees. Propelled forward by singer Angela Mullenhour's sugar coated knife-edge voice, a unique entity in itself, brimming with shattering potential and weighted with its own world-weariness, elegant, bruised but never defeated. In fact, the whole outfit is tough as shit, Chicago in a way nobody’s seen for awhile.

Into the Trees is the band’s second album, recorded with Grammy-nominated engineer John Congleton (Explosions in the Sky, Mountain Goats) in the backwoods of Minnesota at Pachyderm Studio. The supposedly haunted studio is the same one used to record Nirvana's In Utero and P J Harvey's Rid of Me. The album is also their first with new label Absolutely Kosher Records, following a 2003 self-released EP, A Time for Hollerin and their 2005 self-titled label debut on Flameshovel. Into the Trees explores themes of perception, relationships, and decay with a salt of the earth perspective that flows through the band both in demeanor, sound and appearance.

Sybris has spent the last three years bubbling under, touring with the likes of The Fiery Furnaces, The Walkmen and The Hold Steady as well as dates at Lollapalooza and Virgin Fest. An early posting of one of the album's songs, “Oh Man!”, received impressive reviews and prompted Pitchfork's Brian Howe to write the following: "they haven't tinkered with their style-- "Oh Man!" is of a piece with Sybris's "The Best Day in History Ever", from the blocky yet aerodynamic drums to the nervously chiming guitar lead. This is a good thing, since the band's anthemic indie rock was refreshing precisely for its unabashed classicism."

Joan As Police Woman

Check Out Joan As Police Woman's “To Be Loved” Video Here

After performing two sold out dates in NY and London, Joan as Police Woman releases To Survive June 10th on Cheap Lullaby Records. Joan heads to Europe for club and festival dates this summer. US dates announced soon!

A year since this critical and commercial success of her universally acclaimed Real Life, comes the much anticipated follow-up, To Survive. Real Life brought Joan Wasser out of the shadows and established her as that rare thing, a truly unique and original voice. Songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Joan has bewitched fans across Europe and the US over the last two years and is set to garner a wealth of new devotees with To Survive. An album of unashamedly heartfelt songs, in Joan’s words, “I am always trying to dig deeper into the emotional experience. I want to access the most honest place I can, distill it and present it in a way that makes sense musically.”

Her stage name is arresting, but for those unfamiliar with the gorgeous intimacy of her music, it is slightly misleading. When Joan Wasser re-invented herself as a solo artist, after a life spent playing in bands or on the records of more famous people, she listened to a friend who said she looked like Angie Dickinson, the star of the American 70’s TV cop show Policewoman. “Like Charlie’s Angels, but grittier, less pink fluff” Wasser explains. “..And yeah, at a certain point, when I challenged myself do music on my own, I felt ready to take on anything.”

Tough cop in spirit maybe, but not in the way she sounds. The multi-skilled musical phenomenon that is Joan Wasser – classically trained violin player, street taught punk rocker, old soul aficionado, vocal diva – does not play the conventional tough guy. Or conventional anything for that matter. Like the slogan on her website says, ‘Beauty is the new punk rock.’ Policewoman Joan’s mission is to find original and ever more striking ways into our collective heart. “ I am always trying to dig deeper into the emotional experience,” she says, “I want to access the most honest place I can, distill it and present it in a way that makes sense musically.”

The distance between JAPW’s first album Real Life, and her second, To Survive, represents just such a distillation. A collection of songs she wrote mostly in the shadow of her mother’s battle with cancer, which ended in her death last year, To Survive centres on Joan as piano player and singer. The guitars are mixed way back and the pop hooks are seamlessly bedded into the idiosyncratic flow of the melodies. “I’ve become obsessed with taking stuff out, leaving only the most potent elements in place,” says Wasser. “I got more into blending and integration and subtlety. I just want to be courageous enough to feel and express as much as possible and that means ALL the emotions. True integration”

NY Times
"Joan as Police Woman, creates dizzying, jazz-steeped rock music."

Rolling Stone- Italy
5 Star Review
“One can not ask more than this from an album of pop music. Joan As Police Woman said that she makes music to dig deep into emotions, distill the authenticity and present it in the form of songs. After listening to ‘To Survive’, one can say that she has discovered how to do this”

Gentleman Auction House to release long awaited Alphabet Graveyard on Emergency Umbrella Records on August 19th

Check out their LIVE webcast from Daytrotter

Have a listen to “We Used to Dream About Bridges” from Alphabet Graveyard

These Mid-Western darlings plan on touring all summer long- See how many people they can fit in a VAN!

For the Second Year in a row Gentleman Auction House were nominated for Best Pop Band by the Riverfront Times. Named "Best Local Act Gone National" By The Riverfront Times; 2007

It seems only appropriate that youth and maturation are two of the lyrical themes that thread their way through Eric Enger’s songs: His band, Gentleman Auction House, has spent the last year navigating the space where the two words intersect. Formed in the summer of 2005 (with its current lineup solidified in January of 2006), the band itself is still young, with the average age of its seven members hitting just below the quarter-century mark.

GAH spent their first year hitting the stages in St. Louis, MO, as frequently as their schedules would allow, playing shows in front of audiences across the town. As excited performances converted excited fans, the band took its cue and recorded their debut EP The Rules Were Handed Down just in time for their performance at 2006’s Pygmalion Festival in Champaign-Urbana, IL. The self-recorded EP was self-released in October 2006, and had sold out of it’s first pressing by the time the band played their now-annual Christmas show, which happened to score a mention in SPIN magazine’s list of must-attend events in St. Louis that December. TRWHD sold enough copies before the year’s end to make it into the Top 15 best-selling records of 2006 at Vintage Vinyl, St. Louis’ premier independent record store. The EP made the list again a year later, and now has sold over 3,000 total copies to date.

The next year was spent playing local and regional shows in support of TRWHD, and though the feedback was consistently filled with praise, the band’s recipe of boy-girl vocals, dueling drummers, and multi-instrumentation had become standard indie-pop fare. Around every corner loomed a band that bore a resemblance to GAH’s own musical reflection, and every review cited the same touchstone Canadian collectives. Feeling the need to delineate the band’s sound, Enger penned a handful of new pop songs to round out material for what would become Alphabet Graveyard, the band’s full-length debut.

October 2007 found GAH in Washington, D.C., recording at Silver Sonya studios with Chad Clark (Beauty Pill, Smart Went Crazy), Devin Ocampo (Medications, Faraquet), and TJ Lipple (Aloha), who the band hoped would help them audibly infuse the enthusiasm and youthful energy of their live show and contextualize all of the different components of their new record. After two weeks of feverish recording, a robbery at gunpoint, and the unexpected illness of Chad Clark, two records emerged.

May 2008 welcomed The Book of Matches EP, which serves as the thematic and sonic precursor to the band’s new full-length. Due out in August of 2008, Alphabet Graveyard is a record that documents the maturation of a band who has shed the weight of its comparisons and forged a direction all their own to a very new place where solemn folk ballads, epic mood pieces and infectiously danceable pop very naturally find themselves on common ground.

Fresh off of a string of spring tours including a showcase at SXSW and a Daytrotter studio session, the band will spend the remainder of the year touring consistently, including a stop at Diversafest (DFest) in Tulsa, OK, and their third trip to Champaign’s burgeoning Pygmalion Festival.

The Felice Brothers Summer of Festivals

In the spring of '07, the Felice Brothers released their first recording "Tonight at the Arizona" on Loose Records in the UK. They WOW-ed 'em across the pond playing festivals and gigs throughout the UK and Europe with the likes of the Waterboys, Blanche and David Grey. After making their way across America this summer for their first tour, they band hooked up with Bright Eyes for a string of rousing dates on the East Coast ---culminating in a performance on the venerated stage at Radio City Music Hall. The Felice Brothers also kicked it with Levon Helm for one of his classic Midnight Rambles upstate. Along the way, fans at shows were introduced to "The Adventures of the Felice Brothers Vol 1", only available at live dates. The band have spent 08 on tour with everyone from Sun Volt, the Drive By Truckers, North Mississippi All Stars, Justin Townes Earle and Man Man.

The sound that emerges from their instruments is seeped with an instinctive authenticity that's rooted in tradition. While busking and impromptu subway performances filled their bellies, now their recordings and live performances brings the backwoods to the cities and concert Halls of America and Europe. Starting off '08 on the right foot, the Felice Brothers proudly announce their signing to Team Love Records.

Simone, Ian and James Felice are the three eldest boys from a family of seven, born carpenter's sons in the wilds of New York's Catskill Mountains. Less than a year ago, the Brothers adopted a runaway dice-thrower and chancer, a 19 year old called Christmas. They convinced him to quit his job and the motley quartet forsook all else but song and moved their Sunday BBQ sing-alongs from their dad's upstate house out onto the streets and subways of NYC.

After months of toil, living in a 1987 special education bus, with arrests, and genuine panhandler fun, a free-lance music writer named Gabe Soria (Mojo, Vice) stumbled upon the boys singing and barking their wares at a farmers market in Brooklyn and one thing led to another.

Now the Felice Brothers including blood brothers Christmas and Farley all live, tour, sing, write and gamble together on their little bus. Their distinct brand of songwriting and the lawless sound they've forged has earned them comparisons to Woody Guthrie, a young Springsteen to the Scorsese film Gangs of New York. The boys now travel the world performing homegrown and gritty Americana on the city stages as if they were hosting a sing-along on their own front porch surrounded by family and friends or playing the backroom of a dusty tavern.

After returning from their never ending tour for last years Mentor Tormentor, Aaron and Ariana headed back to their Ship studio to record Hymn and Her.

In fact after 10 years of being in the band, Aaron and Ariana have made a vow to release at least one record every fiscal year for the next 10 years. Or, unless Aaron and Ari decide that they don't want to.

"We recorded the new album (Hymn and Her) really quickly. We didn't wanna wait another 3 years to make
another record. We just wanna keep makin' stuff," says Espinoza.

Hymn and Her was written and produced by Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray at the band's Ship Studio in Eagle Rock, CA. The making of the record was quick compared to the two years of work that went into Mentor Tormentor, and it proves to be more organic and diverse than anything the band has done before. The band has over the years metamorphosed into a two piece an introspective songwriting team whose recordings have lush production quality.

Despite the "down and dirty" approach, the album still has a very layered and rich sound, which is due in large part to Lynch¹s contribution. He"s credited in the liner notes as "engineering w/ additional production, music, and magic-making," and nothing seems more apt to describe the sonic manipulations that give the album its unique and varied

This new offering will be Earlimart¹s second on Majordomo, an imprint formed as a partnership
between Earlimart and Shout! Factory, offering the band greater creative freedom. Majordomo will also sign and produce other like-minded artists.

SAM CHAMPION Give Exclusive Performance To Rolling Stone Breaking Band Blog

A Not To Be Missed Acoustic Version Of Their Single “Be Mine Everyone” From Their Van!

Sophomore LP HEAVENLY BENDER Out This August On North Street Records

Jun 22: World Cafe Live / Popped Festival! / Philadelphia, PA / With Daniel Johnston and O’Death

Jun 27: Prospect Park Bandshell / Celebrate Brooklyn! / With Cold War Kids & Elvis Perkins

Be here now, captain. What you got in your hands, there, Jack, is a copy of the new Sam Champion album, "Heavenly Bender." Stick it in your stereo and take a listen. Press play.

(If, for the love of the God, you're using a computer, I hope you have some sweet speakers.)

How's that chorus? Sounds pretty damn good, doesn't it? Are you keeping it like a secret? (Please don't. You're a member of the press!)

Can you see the stars where you are? We can't see 'em in New York. Let me tell you this is a damn good rock band at the height of their Byzantine powers. Jack Dolgen's bass rumbles and bounces like it should. Sean Bones' guitar can't miss a note, except, of course when that note is supposed to be missed. And you can hear those pounding drums. And on top of it all, Noah Chernin's plainspeaking about the old tropes that never get old: relationships, mortality, the human spirit, and hard work.

And good old hard work is how Sam Champion has got where they are. It's not an easy game in New York. Rents are pricey and bands are a buck a minute and pizza ovens tend to catch on fire. (More on that later.)

Sam Champion, or the Champ, as we like to call em, hustled onto tours with the Hold Steady, Cold War Kids, Rogue Wave, Apollo Sunshine, the Slip, and Two Gallants. They've gone to England and returned victorious and not a little Victorian and praised by the Guardian. They've killed it at Bonnaroo 2007. The music blogs caught on, premiered the new stuff: VBS.TV http://VBS.TV , Brooklyn Vegan, Gorilla vs. Bear, Stereogum.

It's a nice list of accomplishments, surely, for sure, to be sure. But this record that you're hearing "Heavenly Bender" has been four years in the making. During this godblessed time the Champ went from wearing their influences— Tom Petty, Booker T & The MG's, and Crazy Horse —on their sleeves to amalgamating all those old good songs into something great and new. While you listen to the tunes, rewind and sing along, take a read:

A SHORT HISTORY OF SAM CHAMPION

The middle of winter, two thousand and four. It's Thursday, and freezing cold. The smoking ban's just taken effect and there's a cluster of people huddled like vampires outside the old Luna Lounge on Ludlow Street. Go inside, drink a pint of Stella, check out the scene, say hello. The bill tonight: These Bones and Sam Champion. Drink another pint. Take off the coat. Crowd into the small room in the back and exchange pleasantries with an old friend. The crowd knows the songs. They're a three-piece: Noah Chernin on guitar, Jack Dolgen on bass, Ryan Thornton behind the kit. After, These Bones kill it, Sean Sullivan mangling his SG. More pop than rock, more shine than grit. Have a couple more beers and go home satisfied.

Fall, two thousand and five. In the interim, These Bones dissolved. Sean's joined Sam Champion. Stroke of genius. Their record "Slow Rewind" comes out on Razor and Tie. Sam Champ sells out the Mercury Lounge at record release show. They kill it. Hang
with Noah in the basement and talk about the future. It's cold down there.

Spring into summer, two thousand and six. The old Luna Lounge is a memory: knocked down to make way for luxury condos. Sam Champ moves into the Saltmines in DUMBO. Hunker down to write some tunes. Bums outside standing in front of Bridge Fresh Deli. Mexican place across the street has good burritos. Sean meshes to the extreme. Jack's hair gets long. Noah grows a beard. Ryan rolls like Ryan. They keep on writing. Time passes. Play some shows. Open for the Hold Steady and rule the Bowery Ballroom. The new tunes take shape, growing and changing like time.

Fall, two thousand and six. They head upstate and move into a barn. Everything slows down. It's cold at night. Out of the city, the air is fresher. So is the mind. Record most of an album. Keep going down in Hoboken. Finish off the vocals in Jack's apartment. You're so direct.

Summer, two thousand and seven. The record's done. Called it "Heavenly Bender." Noah and Ryan's apartment burns down in a pizza fire. More shows. Better than ever before. An old machine polished with precision into something different and effective: rediscovering the vintage. The tunes attack and the band pounds. They head to Bonnaroo. Tennessee heat. Sam Champion kills it.

The middle of winter, two thousand and eight. Look in the mirror, we've gotten not old but older. Sam Champion has been to England. Expensive beer but the crowds are into it. The record's finally ready to be pushed out to the public. North Street Records to the rescue. Headlining the Bowery. Sold Out. A heavenly bender into "Heavenly Bender."

Bear Hands US Tour Dates With Ted Leo & The Pharmacists

Fresh off their critically acclaimed SXSW shows, Brooklyn’s Bear Hands are playing a slew of dates with Ambulance Ltd., Cursive, & Die Die Die! Come and check out the hottest new band that everybody is talking about!

Tell All Your Friends is thrilled to announce the arrival of Bear Hands! Brooklyn’s up and coming indie-rock impresarios bring us the “Golden EP” (December 11th). With titles such as “Sickly Brunette” and “Bad Blood”, this 4-song EP features themes from the ironic and sublime to the punchy and powerful. Bear Hands’ music harkens back to the wit and weariness of the days when Pavement reigned supreme, (think “Box Elder”). Bear Hands have recently performed with MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot, & The Honorary Title.

In August 2006, Dylan Rau (vocals/guitar) brought together Ted Feldman (guitar), Val Loper (bass) and TJ Orscher (drums) in a small NYC practice space. The original plan was to flesh out some demos Rau had been working on but each quickly saw and heard the potential for a band; a band that would be unique sounding yet widely accessible.

Focusing on the rhythm and percussion that Orscher and Loper bring, they strive to bring the driving beat to the foreground and to marry it with the contemplative lyrics of Rau and inventive guitar lines of Feldman. This musical creativity combines and combats ideas set forth by pioneers of the rock genre.

The band are already being championed by the NYC underground, indeed they have just been featured as a Great NYC Band You Need To Check Out in L magazine's Music Issue.

Bear Hands have just recorded their debut ep with producer Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Pelican). This 4 song ep, entitled the “Golden ep”, will be released on Freedom In Exile and will be available on: itunes; old school compact disc at fine independent retailers and at their many upcoming live shows; and even older school mail order via their myspace page.

Alternative Press (Top 100 bands of 2008) "..While hints of lo-fi indie and post-punk v2.o float about on their debut, the songs catch fire from their own spark. No grungy depression or post-millennial anxiety, just solid tunes.."

Entertainment Weekly “Golden...finds the band melding together indie rock and post-punk on songs like ‘Long Lean Queen,’ a punchy anthem propelled by atonal vocals and persistent percussion. Judging from these four tracks, this young Bear is already exhibiting survival skills.”

Jeremy Jay Announces Part 1 Of US Tour

Jeremy Jay Announces Part 1 Of US Tour To Release Debut US Tour Single “Where We Could Go Tonite?”

Click Here To Listen To “Where We Could Go Tonite?”

Jeremy Jay resides in Angel town, next to Larchmont where he hang out. He's tall (6'3) blond (really) and handsome and wants a cat for his apartment. He writes and plays piano and guitar. He says one of his favorite things to do is drive around with the moonroof open and listen to music with his friends. It seems that hes both a small town boy and a big city boy in one.

Very excited about music, Jeremy's writing is influenced by dreams and the more fantastic surrealist sensibility linked with storybook romance of movies from the French New Wave, ala "My Life To Live", and the Art Deco era film, " Our Modern Maidens". Jeremy has also held a special fascination to strong '50s Rock n' Roll sensibility; Buddy Holly is one of Jeremy's favorite singers along, with Richie Valens and '60s era Yea-Yea Francois Hardy.

On the surface, his performances seem like that a pop singer: dancing, singing and playing guitar. Yet he's so illusive. If you reach out to grab him you wouldn't touch anything; all you see is a character from the Dream World. Like Buddy Holly, Peter Pan and the John Hughes movies rolled into one. He's pure Storybook.

BECK PREMIERES NEW TRACK ON ZANE LOWE'S BBC RADIO 1 SHOW

'CHEMTRAILS' NOW STREAMING AT BECK.COM AND BECK'S OFFICIAL MYSPACE PAGE

The world got a first taste of Beck's as yet untitled new album today, as Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show premiered the song 'Chemtrails' and declared it today's "hottest record in the world." The song is now streaming at www.Beck.com and Beck's MySpace page (www.myspace.com/beck).

While not a single, "Chemtrails" is a genre-bending tour de force that showcases Beck and producer Danger Mouse's shared affection for late '60s psych-pop as Beck takes his songwriting and performing skills in yet another bold, unforeseen and as always captivating new direction.

The album is slated for an early summer release. More info will be available soon, including the record's title, release date and upcoming singles.

Beck embarks on a world tour beginning late June in Europe, hitting the States in time for several major festivals (Bumbershoot, Outside Lands, Austin City Limits) as well as his biggest ever hometown headline gig September 20 at the Hollywood Bowl.

The Jealous Girlfriends make it work. The Brooklyn four-piece pull together the tunefulness of Anglo New Wave and BritPop, the aggression and energy of Washingtonian indie rock – both district and state - and infuse it all with a little soul, working an alchemy that transforms these base musical elements into songs crackling with tension and excitement that are instantly memorable while revealing something new with every listen.

Overtop a rhythmic foundation laid down by drummer Michael Fadem, Josh Abbott and Holly Miranda's buzzsaw guitars carom and careen against Alex Lipsen's square wave synths as their voices duet and duel overtop in tones that are playful and plaintive, menacing and mesmerizing. It's this potent lineup that has crafted their eponymous album following a 2005 debut EP featuring only Miranda and Lipsen.

The Jealous Girlfriends have already achieved a tremendous amount for a wholly independent band, earning that blessing and curse of being one of the best-kept secrets in independent music. Now signed to Good Fences Records, they're set to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting world.

Armed with hooks, barbs, and velvet-lined bludgeons, The Jealous Girlfriends – the album – makes a striking statement that reveals The Jealous Girlfriends – the band - as an outfit that bends and pushes against the boundaries of rock music not so much with the intent to break them, but simply to see what kind of shapes they can make.

Delicious Vinyl Releases All Star-RMXXOLOGY This August/ Featuring Eminem, Peaches, Hot Chip, Aaron LaCrate & Cory Nitta

As The Years Go By And The Rhymes Stay Fly...
Today's Hottest Talents Blast Classic Rap Into The Future!

Summer 2008 Keeps Heating Up As Delicious Vinyl Releases DELICIOUS VINYL ALL-STARS: RMXXOLOGY

2x CD/2x LP in stores Aug 11, 2008

Go back to the future with Delicious Vinyl RMXXOLOGY, an all-new, 15-track album featuring classic tracks by Young MC, The Pharcyde, Masta Ace, The Brand New Heavies, and Fatlip re-imagined by artists including Peaches, Hot Chip, and Eminem. The first two singles from the album are already embedded in the hearts and minds of DJs and party people worldwide: pioneering electro goddess Peaches' sizzling update of Tone Loc's immortal "Wild Thing" and Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir's gutter-bumping Baltimore blast of Young MC's "Know How."

RMXXOLOGY was born a year ago when Delicious Vinyl honcho Rick Ross met Peaches after a show. After agreeing that she would do a version of Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" they began brainstorming a dream team of artists to let loose on the Delicious Vinyl catalog. This led to the creation of The Delicious Vinyl All-Stars, a collective including prime-time players like Eminem and Diplo, as well as upstart French freakers Mr. Flash, Breakbot, and Don Rimini, and L.A. new jacks Cory Nitta (Pink Enemy/Philippians) and Bobby Evans (Brother Reade). Soon each of the Delicious Vinyl All-Stars was having their way with a Delicious Vinyl classic of their choosing...

As Rick Ross puts it, "Peaches is my co-curator on RMXXOLOGY. We reached out to people who know how to have fun exploring their influences and adding their own magic to something they love. That's the creative core of what the RMXXOLOGY project is about: Start with these dope raw materials and reassemble them into something new and fun, revitalizing the music for a new generation of fans!"

The album runs the gamut from Pink Enemy's tech-soul take on The Brand New Heavies' beloved "Never Stop" to Eminem's head-knock redux of Masta Ace "Slaughterhouse" and, the real stunner, Hot Chip's transformation of The Pharcyde's "Passin' Me By" into a sacred hymn. Rick Ross explains: "RMXXOLOGY represents a whole variety of styles. It's all about creating alternative versions of these classics, rather than remixing them expressly for the dancefloor. After all, the original songs always brought people to the dancefloor anyway!"

But don't fear: The dancefloor ain't being neglected. The third single from RMXXOLOGY, "Bust A Move" RMXXS, finds Diplo and Don Rimini manhandling the Young MC classic into club-savvy form. (Already #1 on beatport and turntablelab's digital charts, Bust A Move RMXXS will be released on 12" vinyl on May 22.) And then there's the album's lead track, Bobby Evans' "Freak-A-Zoid Robots (RMXXOLOGY Theme)" an homage to Afrika Bambaataa and old school electro that embodies the album's past-is-present spirit.

Featuring gold sparkle artwork that flips the classic Delicious Vinyl logo in the same way that The Delicious Vinyl All-Stars have re-thunk the original music, RMXXOLOGY is destined to be this summer's hottest album.

RMXXOLOGY Vol. 2 Coming Soon!!!
Featuring classics by Tone-Loc, Mr. Vegas, Def Jef, and Born Jamericans RMXXed by Diplo, DJ Medhi, Spank Rock & Amanda Black, MEN, and Bass Over Babylon....

...And stay tuned for RMXXOLOGY WORLD TOUR '08 announcement...

Dirty On Purpose Release 4 Free Songs For "Dead Volcanoes" EP

Following the success of their debut full length, Hallelujah Sirens, and their follow-up EP, Like Bees, Dirty on Purpose has released four exclusive, digital-only songs for their "Dead Volcanoes" EP on RCRDLBL.com.

The first single off this EP is "Leaving," which introduces slide guitar to the group's music for the first time ever. It's a somber tune about drummer/singer Doug Marvin's wife Annie Hart from Au Revoir Simone always leaving home for tour and the hardships of being apart from the one you love.

The second song, "Hard To Tell You," has singer/guitarist Joe Jurewicz singing to his daughter
Sophie, trying to explain the unexpected trips and falls that life can and will bring, warning and encouraging her to tackle reality and become her own strong person.

The third single, "The Thing About Getaways," was written when singer/drummer Doug Marvin was walking about the streets of Chicago, breathing in the spirit of the Windy City. There is an airy, poppy sensibility to the number that really draws listeners in.

Today, the fourth and final song, "Canned Fumes," on the EP is revealed! Singer/guitarist George Wilson sings on this track, which takes the band to a new level of songwriting -- the song beautifully builds and layers atmospherics until the whole arrangement swells with emotion. The foursome's sound has grown exponentially over the years, and the Dead Volcanoes EP truly achieves a maturation in the band's music.

BECK, DANGER MOUSE - PRODUCED NEW ALBUM OUT THIS SUMMER

Beck has recorded a new album, produced with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, to be released this summer. The as yet untitled album contains 10 new songs.

Having met a few years ago, Beck and Danger Mouse had planned to work together at some point, finally convening last December to do a few songs. Encouraged by the results, they decided to make an entire record and over the next few months recorded extensively, with the goal of using only 10 pieces in the end.

The result is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off the cuff wordplay and lighthearted humor. Musically, the album's ten
tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and Danger Mouse's shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration.

The album's diversity of tone is belied by an emphasis on songwriting and musical concision, with the album clocking in at a little over 30 minutes.

The album represents the first new Beck music since last year's Grammy-nominated digital single "Timebomb." The new songs also mark the first new material Beck has written since the prolific stretch that produced 2005's platinum Guero and 2006's universally acclaimed The Information.

On the live front, Beck will play his biggest hometown headline show to date September 20 at the Hollywood Bowl. The bill will also feature special guests Spoon and MGMT and is the first headline date announced on a U.S. itinerary that so far includes the Austin City Limits, Outside Lands and Bumbershoot festivals.

The Cavalera Conspiracy Hit The Road This Summer

For the first time since 1996, brothers and metal co-conspirators Max and Iggor Cavalera are hitting the road. The duo will tour together as The Cavalera Conspiracy this summer.

The Cavalera Conspiracy is the brothers' first collaboration since Max exited the legendary Sepultura over a decade ago. The summer dates, which begin in mid-July and find the band hitting several US and Canadian markets, support their Roadrunner Records debut, Inflikted, which came out in March to much fanfare. Selling over 9,000 copies its first week, the album was lauded by the press, with Max and Iggor appearing on the cover of Metal Edge.

The Cavalera Conspiracy will headline the tour, with heavy hitters Dillinger Escape Plan, Throwdown, Bury Your Dead and Incite as support acts, elevating the tour to "can't miss" status in addition to making this one of the most brutastic tours of the summer.

Tour dates are as follows:

July 17 - Electric Factory, Philadelphia, PA

July 18 - The Palladium, Worcester, MA

July 19 – The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza, New York, NY

July 20 - The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza, New York, NY

July 21 - Rams Head Live, Baltimore, MD

July 23 - Vic Theater, Chicago, IL

July 24 - Orbit Room, Grand Rapids, MI

July 25 - Wake Stock, Toronto, ONT Canada

July 26 - McMahon Stadium, Calgary, ALB Canada (Monsters of Rock fest)

July 27 - Myth, St. Paul, MN
July 29 - Gothic Theater, Englewood, CO
July 31 - The Fillmore, San Francisco, CA
Aug 2 - House of Blues, Anaheim, CA
Aug 5 - House of Blues, Hollywood, CA

Max and Iggor Cavalera started their musical journey with Sepultura, breaking down barriers and opening the doors for metal in their native Brazil. The pair has long been considered torchbearers for aggressive music. And yes, Iggor has changed the spelling of his name and added a second "g." That's not a typo.
