Release of ‘talking through tin cans’ in the UK + Japan. Puma in-stores scheduled in select cities! Nominated for SF Weekly award!
the morning benders have parlayed their busiest summer to date into an autumn that is shaping up to be just as action-packed. With support slots opening for The Kooks, Supergrass and We Are Scientists in the books, the boys spent their back-to-school months hitting up the Treasure Island and Monolith Music Festivals, where they shared the stage with such acts as Dr. Dog, The Dodos, The Kills, Fleet Foxes, A Place To Bury Strangers, and The Presets. Their friends at Puma and Nylon teamed up to produce a new music video for their song, ‘damnit anna,’ which premiered on NYLON TV. They then hopped in their van to travel all over the country with their friends in Ra Ra Riot.
The tour wraps in the East Coast this week, but our 'little band that could' are hardly sitting on their laurels waiting for their next endeavor. Among their upcoming shows are Puma in-stores in New York, Boston and Los Angeles, a handful of college shows, and a slot with Kenan Bell at his Monday residency at Spaceland in LA. Then, they wrap up their breakout year with an all-ages headline show at Rickshaw Stop in SF on 12.05 in front of their hometown crowd where they will be debuting some brand new tunes before going into the studio to record their next album. All show dates are below.
On another bright hometown tip, the band has recently been nominated for a SF Weekly Music Award in the Indie Rock/Pop Category. Their nomination was announced here, and fans can cast their morning benders vote here: http://sfweekly.com/polls/music08/. Voting ends this Wednesday, Oct. 15th.
the morning benders are also releasing their very own exclusive iTunes Session, out on 11.11. The five-song session includes three alt versions of songs from their debut album, the exclusive debut of a brand new song called ‘back & again’, and one cover – of a song from The Jungle Book soundtrack. The track listing is as follows:
damnit anna (supersoul version)
i wanna be like you (jungle book cover)
back and again (big echo preview)
i was wrong (nico version)
doctor doctor (alt version of 'patient patient')
Their debut full-length, no longer in its infancy, is now looking beyond our borders to horizons abroad. the morning benders now have a release scheduled in the UK, where ‘talking through tin cans’ is available now for preorder at Rough Trade Shops, with copies arriving on Oct. 31st. For a select few, there will be an album bundle package that includes a 'Waiting for a War' 7” in addition to the full length (in limited edition, and exclusive to Rough Trade shops).
In Japan, they have joined The Faint, Okkervil River, and Dr. Dog, among others, on the Boundee roster, with ‘talking through tin cans’ slated for a Nov. 26th release.
