JIHAE RETURNS WITH NEW ALBUM

Following the success of the debut LP My Heart Is an Elephant and the remix EP Afterthought, Jihae is back with the brand new LP Elvis Is Still Alive. Drawing influences from many genres, Jihae's sound is truely unique, but has been compared to Fiona Apple, Chrissie Hynde, and Aimee Mann. Elvis is Still Alive will be independently released November 11.

Jihae's voice is melancholic but defiant. At times cynical, but always resolute. Her hypnotic rhythms are seductive and her lyrics, subversively sentimental and knowing. The dynamics of her music carry each story and poem into a dreamworld, featuring daring arrangements on voice, guitar, cello, viola, bass, synth, drums, percussion and programmed beats.

Jihae is the unique yet familiar sound of now.

A native of South Korea, Jihae grew up in Nigeria and Sweden, and lived in the UK before settling in NYC. Her love of fine arts has led to her collaborations with numerous multimedia artists including Anna Gaskell, Marco Brambilla and Jeff Gompertz. She has co-written songs with David Steel (English Beat, Fine Young Cannibals) and Duncan Sheik. After releasing her critically acclaimed debut album My Heart is an Elephant in spring '07 and Afterthought, a remix EP offering four remixes of tracks on her debut album plus one new song, “Simple Man,” in June 2007, Jihae presents Elvis Is Still Alive. Jihae’s newest full-length album, Elvis Is Still Alive, will be available November 11 through iTunes and other digital music providers.

Jihae is currently being featured (as both a vocalist and an actor) in Gerald Byrne's video art installation "Interview" shot by renowned cinematographer, Christopher Doyle. “Interview” originally premiered at the Venice Biennale. Jihae also plays a singer/poet of the future in Richard Kroehling's feature film, "Transbeman." Three songs from Jihae's album are included in the film’s soundtrack alongside compositions by Michael Galasso (composer for Wong Kar Wai's "In the Mood for Love" and for Robert Wilson's "Overture.")

"Creative genius may be the perfect way to explain it all. Jihae's music has an original and brutally honest edge. It is almost as if each musical component, from her luring voice and unparalleled musical composition, to her lyrics which probe the internal intellect, have all simultaneously found each other to form this union of artistic venture." - Trace Magazine

"A croon with this kind of husky, lusty depth does its own PR. Surely drawn to vocals that cross Chrissie Hynde with Aimee Mann… The result is a tidy sonic twists under a singer/songwriter's spirit." - Download.com

“Afterthought is a collection of five tracks from the musical newcomer. The musical style falls somewhere between Liz Phair, Bell and Sebastian and the subdued tracks by Bjork. The result is five ultra-hip and ultimately poetic tracks giving way only a taste on what Jihae has up her sleeve.” – One Microphone

“I’ll never know how Jihae manages to use her deep, soulful voice and brooding electronic arrangements to make gems like this one, which is honestly nothing short of effortlessly engaging, but I think it’s a pretty incredible feat. Most artists going down the road of what’s essentially headphone music never come close to reaching the room-filling prowess of this woman.” - Side One: Track One
