Don’t be a Stranger was formed in 2002, in a tiny village in rural Värmland, a Swedish region of dark woods and weird dialects. Liv Widell (singer/songwriter), Louise Weibull (Fidget) and her sister Christina Weibull (Honey is Cool) met by coincidence and started making music together. Liv had a God given voice and abundant musical sketches in her head and hands. Louise and Christina had flow, melodies, inspiration, instruments and a brand new portable digital recording studio. About a year later, as the lack of rhythm became too painful, the girls were joined by Johan Forsman (Fidget). Loads of songs were born without much of a direction or outspoken desired result. They all had completely different musical back- grounds, preferences and preconceptions of what to do and how. In 2005, the band moved to Stockholm, to a “goth” basement with neon lights and skeletons hanging from the roof. Acollective depression sets in and marks the music. They felt an urging need for joy and love and anything but that dark basement! They ask Mattias Albinsson (Ebon Tale) to join them on the bass. When summer came at last, they decided to put their music on tape. Don’t be a Stranger entered Studio Cobra where the band’s last but not least member is found in the control room of the dark cave like studio: Konie Ehrencrona (Konie and the Club, Hipwhips) completes the setting of the group with his spirits and his guitars. Cheap Lullaby Records will release Don’t Be A Strangers Frutti Di Mare in April 09. The band will be featured on Showtimes "United States of Tara" on Feb 1st and will be touring the US this spring.

CHAIRLIFT TO EMBARK ON NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH YACHT & FRIENDS
Chairlift spent a good portion of last year on the road, teaming up with Ariel Pink and Yeasayer for two cross-country jaunts, as well as heading out on a European tour in the late fall, which included dates with Why? Telepathe and Santogold among others. In the wake of Chairlift's catchy pop single "Bruises" getting chosen for the colorful new iPod Nano-Chromatic commercial, the band ended the year with a bang, with their debut, Does You Inspire You, being named one of SPIN Magazine's Top 40 Albums of 2008, as well as making many of their peers' Top 10 lists. Chairlift was also recently voted the "Best Emerging NYC Artist of 2008" by The Deli Magazine.
"Besotted with reverb drenched synthetic lushness, they flit from uncanny new-wave caricatures to beguiling heroin country ballads, nodding deeply to David Lynch's Angelo Badalamenti-scored oeuvre" - SPIN - Top 40 Albums of 2008
"Aesthetics, ecology and intergalactic millinery: welcome to the dawning of the age of Chairlift." - NME Radar
"...molasses-covered, electro-funk fantasy of innocence, and it throbs like Prince on sizzurp." - Blender
"Chairlift possess that rare charm that transcends any self-aware genre or calculated scene...the album's cool temperature is balanced by the uplift of its exalted riffs and melodies - overall, an inspirational debut." - BUST
"Brooklyn's Chairlift sounds like Siouxsie Sioux fronting an '80s synth band (which is to say, awesome), and their debut provides an incomparably swoon-worthy listen."- VMAN
"'Does You Inspire You,' is a loopy confection of synth-pop goodness that evokes Yaz and the Knife, with Polachek crooning away like a more chipper Cat Power. - OUT Magazine
"Chairlift's music is itself a portal into the band's imaginative psyche where ambiguous sonic shapes hide under a cloak of reverb and sanguine synth lines dance over decadent vocal harmonies." - The Deli Magazine

CKY COMPLETING WORK ON CARVER CITY
SET FOR RELEASE ON MAY 19
CKY has completed mixing their 4th record, entitled Carver City, set for release onRoadrunner Records on May 19. As with all their previous albums, Carver City was produced by the band’s guitarist Chad I Ginsburg. The album was recorded at Studio CIG in the band’s home state of Pennsylvania and mixed by Ginsburg and Phil Nicolo at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA. Some of the eleven tracks set to appear include: "Hellions On Parade," "The Boardwalk Body," "…And She Never Returned,” “Karmaworks” and "Woe Is Me.”
Singer Deron Miller comments, “Literally all the things that have been keeping CKY strong since our last album - the undying hardcore support of our fans, our unorthodox musical approach and a brand new partnership with Roadrunner Records - have restored an enthusiasm within our band that has never been this extreme. Sobriety, hard work, patching up inner turmoil and a love for what we do has undoubtedly made this the most
collaborative and focused CKY effort to date.”
Ginsburg concurs: “The album is more inventive and more layered than our past releases, with the most melodies, textures and riffs of any CKY album. It is by far the most inspired album we have ever made."
According to Miller, Carver City carries with it a “dark summer vacation vibe,” nostalgic of the band members’ childhood trips to the East Coast beaches. “The fabled town of Carver City has a history of bad luck and misfortune, all the while giving the impression that it’s a pleasant family getaway. Much like CKY's town of Hellview, Carver City's events are depicted in the songs, with story lines coming from real life events.”
CKY are planning to tour in support of their Roadrunner debut in the spring.

Jeremy Jay's "Where Could We Go Tonight" Is The Fader's Freeload Of The Day
Jeremy Jay is a mixture of a storyteller, artist and singer. Following a series of 7" singles, he released his debut LP, A Place Where We Could Go on K in Spring 2008 to rave reviews. Currently, he splits his time between living in Paris and Los Angeles, the dream cities of the French New Wave and Hollywood. Similar to films, Jeremy identifies with the visual stories of life and love, and touches on everything human; he is always in the process of writing and recording, playing the guitar and taking long walks. Jeremy is getting acquainted to living in Paris, but still draws much of his inspiration from the films of iconic American teen auteur John Hughes. With his new single “Love Everlasting” and full-length Slow Dance (both released by K), Jeremy has created his own brand of urgent pop music that fits perfect in the house parties and punk rock clubs that he prefers to play. In 2009 Jeremy will be touring Europe, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
ANDREW BIRD: NOBLE BEAST ENTERS CHART AT #12
U.S. Tour Continues With Sold Out Carnegie Hall Show
Second Show Added At Chicago's Civic Opera House
"Andrew Bird might be the only musician to earn a headlining slot at Carnegie Hall on the strength of his whistling... it may be your last chance to catch this Bird up close."--VANITY FAIR
Andrew Bird's Noble Beast (Fat Possum) has landed at #12 on the U.S. album chart, selling over 25,000 units in its opening week. The debut is the highest of the week for an independent label release and second only to Mariah Carey's Ballads. It is also the #1 seller of the week in Bird's hometown of Chicago.
Noble Beast's marks a career high for Bird, more than doubling the first week sales of his previous effort, March 2007's Armchair Apocrypha, which was the first of his records to crack the Top 100 and ultimately sold in excess of 100,000 copies.
Andrew Bird plays for a standing room only crowd tonight at New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. His current North American tour kicked off Sunday, January 25 with a sold out show at Philadelphia's Theater of the Living Arts and continues through April. Bird's devoted following has already snapped up every ticket to his shows in Washington DC, Atlanta, Orlando, Austin, San Francisco and Omaha, with several other cities about to follow suit.
More recently, tickets for Bird's April 10 homecoming extravaganza at Chicago's 3500+ capacity Civic Opera House blew out within hours of going on sale, necessitating an additional show on April 9, general on sale for which begins Saturday, January 31.

glistening throwback.”—Entertainment Weekly
(check out EW's MUST LIST!)

production and stylistic shifts reward multiple listens, resulting in a pop album with surprising depth.”—PASTE
“Their music might sound as sweet as cotton candy and sparkle like soda-pop, but Inara George and Greg Kurstin offer a lot
more than empty calories. Don’t let their whimsy fool you. These songs can soar and sting.”—
“Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future is...liquid gold.
Building crisp pop imbibements that can stand
up to several listens is no easy task, but the
bird and the bee has found the trick.”
