On the heals of the release of Heart Full of Soul , his debut on Nutone Records, chant master Krishna Das has announced a series of performances up and down the East Coast in January and February 2009. The highlight is a February 4th kirtan at Town Hall in NYC – his first appearance at this legendary venue. Other cities include Montreal, Atlanta, Miami, Burlington VT, Portsmouth NH, Providence and New Haven – full details are included below.
Recorded live in Los Angeles, Heart Full of Soul is a two disc set of favorite chants that deeply transports the listener into the experience of a Krishna Das kirtan.
As the best selling chant artist of all time, Krishna Das has sold more than 300,000 records, and continues to engage enthusiastic audiences around the world. He has headlined venues from concert halls to yoga studios for sold out crowds in cities across the world. He has been recording his popular and much-beloved CD’s of devotional Indian chants since 1996 as a sharing of his lifetime spiritual journey, especially the practices of Bhakti Yoga—the yoga of devotion—and to kirtan—call-and-response chanting of the divine names.
With each album and kirtan Krishna Das brings something unique to his interpretations of this Indian devotional tradition. Over the years KD has been joined in the studio and on stage by many of his fans from the global music community. He was joined by Sting on Pilgrim Heart, he worked with famed producer Rick Rubin on Door of Faith and Breath of the Heart (which includes a 50 person kirtan choir including Beastie Boy Mike D), and on All One he was joined by Walter Becker of Steely Dan.
