Look Out Sophomore LP Out This Summer On Black & Greene Records
Boston Globe : “On a magic carpet ride Drug Rug is flying high, fueled by media buzz and a friendly invitation for others to join in” :
Time Out New York: “On Drug Rug’s superb self-titled debut album, Cronin and Allen’s voices intertwine as if in mutual fascination.”
Bust Magazine : “Though Frequently compared to the White Stripes, Drug Rug is less stripped down and reaches further musically”

The FADER.com: “The band Drug Rug out of Cambridge, Massachusetts with a self-titled album coming in September on Black and Greene kind of sound like a dirty, shredded baja sweater, so we congratulate them on their self-awareness and funky jams and we present you with this song called "Day I Die."
URB: Their 60s influenced, easy going sound contrasts well with rugged love ballad lyrics and keep listeners in head-bobbing, foot tapping heaven.
AMERICAN SONGWRITER: “Drug Rug plays a mightily banged-up mix of blues, rock and country that, in spite of itself, manages to be insanely catchy and full of perk....the Rug spits venom and sugar into their eponymous debut with gleeful disregard for convention.”
PRODUCT SHOP NYC.COM: Drug Rug sounds like a sunny AM radio folk revival but their lyrics are dark and sung with a modern blasé for love and youth.
Drug Rug formed in 2006 as an alternative rock/country project between couple Tommy Allen and Sarah Cronin. Their eponymous debut garnered tremendous critical praise receiving 4 & 5 star reviews in Fader and Bust, and features in Spin, and The New Yorker. Since it's release the band has toured with the likes of The Fiery Furnaces, Los Campesinos & The Long Blondes. With their revolving door tendency for backing-band musicians; Drug Rug's live shows and recordings often feature exciting guests from members of Tulsa, Apollo Sunshine, The Dead Trees and others. 2009 Will bring about an EP titled The Kitchen Tapes and full length sophomore album this Summer. | |
